University Preparation

Oxbridge Entrance

Our Headmistress, Katharine Birbalsingh, has twenty years of experience in supporting sixth form students with an inner city background applying to Oxford and Cambridge University.

With an in-depth knowledge of the application and interview process, Katharine Birbalsingh has helped many sixth form students successfully apply to the UK’s top further education institutions, including Oxford and Cambridge University. Over the years, she has interviewed several Oxbridge admissions tutors, gaining a wealth of knowledge which informs her understanding of the application process.

In addition, Michaela has over a dozen staff educated at Oxford and Cambridge University, who also have a track record of helping sixth form students into these universities. Michaela, therefore, has the subject expertise on how to best prepare for this exciting challenge. Within our Oxbridge mentoring programme, we will provide mock interviews for Oxbridge candidates.

Hard thinking is what Oxbridge tutors are looking for, combined with deep enthusiasm for one’s subject. Combined with top A Level results, our students are given the best possible preparation for the world of higher education.

Personal support will be provided for all personal statements and UCAS applications. Tailored advice will be given on which courses best suit the student’s interests and future career plans.

The deadline for UCAS applications is early in the autumn term of Year 13.

Overseas University Entrance

Personal support will be provided to pupils who wish to apply for universities overseas, such as Ivy League universities in the United States.

Entrance Exams

For some universities, an entrance exam is required in addition to students achieving top A Level results. Specialised Support for BMAT, UKCAT and MAT Students interested in applying for Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and Maths will receive specialised support classes weekly. This is often where students fall down in applications. Training in the verbal and non-verbal components, including prep in the sciences one is not studying at A Level, is crucial if students are to succeed.

Students wanting to apply to US universities will have weekly prep in the SAT and ACT.
